Metering and Data Technician
Essential responsibilities of the position: Deploy and maintain Cooperative metering and instrument assets, read single and polyphase electric meters, connect, disconnect, replace, program and test cooperative meters. Successful candidate will become proficient in collecting, interpreting, and analyzing specific meter and electric load data and demonstrate competency and proficiency using various software related to meter functions and communication. This position will also require knowledge and proficiencies of integration between cooperative mapping and billing systems with metering software, data and asset inventory. The successful candidate will also work closely with cooperative membership and continually provide excellent member service.
Abilities and skills:
Safety, Professionalism, and member service are paramount to being a successful candidate. Applicants must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and have a clean driving record to operate cooperative vehicles. Successful candidate will be subject to pre-employment, random drug, and alcohol testing, background check and pass a physical exam as a condition of employment. Must be personable and be able to work independently, be self-motivated, have strong verbal, written and analytical skills and have a strong work ethic . Proficient background in utilization of personal computers and Microsoft products including Excel and Word. Prior IT and networking experience is preferred. This position may require work be performed in all types of weather and requires scheduled and unscheduled on call availability. Candidates will be able to work in a fluid work environment and adapt to changes in daily tasks as needed. Have or obtain ability to grow individually and provide input for corporate strategy, budgeting, and process improvements.
Minimum two-year associate degree in information technology, engineering technology, or related discipline, or 3 years work experience in a related field will also be considered.
